slipped (herniated) disc won't necessarily show up on an X-ray (try an
MRI).  3-4 weeks may or may not be enough...and even after "healing" you
may still be susceptible to recurring episodes of pain.  BTDoingT.

Very good point.  Whether self-induced (ok, either gravity assisted or
lapse-of-attention incurred) or another errant driver, the results are
indeed similar.
