4000 body mods

I recently replaced my '86 5000CS TQ with a '84 4000S Q, and I
am interested in updating my trim and headlights before putting
on racing graphics.  Would it be possible to swap the grille,
headlights, and rear bumper/valence with a later model, such as
from a '85 - '87 4000?  Also, I have considered a ground effects
kit, but the one from Erebuni seems to actually backdate the
styling IMHO.  Are there other sources of 4000/UrQ ground
effects?  Failing that, I actually like the Erebuni kit for the
'87 & up VW Fox, and it looks like the rear apron would actually
fit under my rear bumper.  I much prefer its styling, but is
this a bad idea?
