Hi Scott;

    Had this problem with my '91 200q. It was a bad ground on the instrument
panel circuit board. There are two connectors soldered to the board which
look like the jumper blocks used in PC's (probably are). When the instrument
cluster is assembled, these connectors engage pins which ground the board's
circuits. You probably have a bad connection at one or both of these
connectors.
    I repaired mine by building up the pin diameter with solder. A drop of
Stabilant 22A would probably work as well or better.
    Try applying a calibrated whack the top of your dash with your fist. The
lights should flicker back to normal (this was my first troubleshooting
clue, but it took me a while to find the problem!).
