It is truly sad to hear about the loss of another QTC ... but its good to
hear that again there was no serious injury ... which is pretty incredible
when you consider a side impact at ~40MPH. I saw the result of a 4kQ that
met a large tree (Sequoia) broadside where the rear passenger door was
deformed almost as much as you describe. It was another fortunate case of
no serious injury ... which was more amazing given the fact that there were
5 occupants in the car at the time of the accident.
It would be interesting to be able to know what it was about the way that
the car deformed that did prevent serious injury in these cases. I could
tell from the car that I saw that the transmission tunnel took some of the
compression, but the door was still deformed to a place where you would
normally expect a passenger to be.

Wondering if his QTC popped its pressure plate as a means of
self-preservation ... :)
