HELP A/C

My A/C seems to be dead shortly:(((

The problem is:
Compressor turns on, then after 2 seconds stops, then again after few
seconds turns on, and again stops, and so on all the time. Sure, it's hot
in the car, and it can't cool in such a way:(((((

Please help! What the problem could be? Is it really dead compressor? May
be just some small electrical problem? (it has been very wet weather last
days..)..

Any ideas are welcome.

Btw, the car is 100 Quattro V6 2.8 '91 (model of 92 in USA perhaps)
