Junk the Hofbrauhaus. Ask for the Paulaner or the St Augustiner.
a) The beer's better
b) The food's _incomparably_ more German
c) No tourists. Especially no drunken Brits (I use the term advisedly)
Personal preference is the Paulaner. YMMV.
Zuffenhausen has two attractions (or three, if your idea of thrills
for the day includes meeting a full-blown freight train coming down
the street) - Porsche and Bosch. Take a part number, ask for
"Ersatzteildienst" and see just how _incredibly_ low Bosch's prices
are in the factory shop. Robert Bosch is a state-owned charity.
Freight trains have priority in mixed traffic, BTW.
Be _really_ German and have a meal in the "Zur Post" in Zuffenhausen.
Head north from Zuffenhausen but don't go onto the Autobahn - stay on
the B27 (the "Wine Road") until you reach Heilbronn. Audi, BTW, is
not just Ingolstadt - take out a map and see how close Neckarsulm is
to Zuffenhausen. Ingolstadt has an interesting museum - but guess
where Audi Sport is based ...
