Re: observations on car design, plus some
Since lots of you had opinions on this topic, I'll take it a step further.
Today, must have been Audi outing day in my neighborhood. They were all over
the place. As I watched someone parking a black 5K I almost walked into a
brand- spanking-new, black A8. As I approached it, all I saw was the four
rings in front and I just naturally figured it was an A4. As I walked along
side, I was wondering why everyone was saying that the A4 was so small, this
car had tons of room! Needless to say, it only took a second or two to get to
the rear of the car and see why it looked so big. I had seen an A8 in the
showroom but never on the road before, let alone parked on the street!
Something very scary about parking a $72K car on the street, specially since
they are tearing up the roads in town. Anyway, it was quite something, as well
it should be. It has an unassuming elegance, I would say. The keyword is
"subtle." I think certain cars just shout, "Hey look at me, I cost a fortune,
yadda, yadda....." An Audi says "I have an intelligent, discriminating owner
who has taste and class and doesn't care if you notice or not." It takes a
person who is much more sure of him/herself to drive an Audi. JMHO ; )
As you can see, I have way too much time on my hands. But, I do think it would
be an interesting study, "Men/women and their cars." Cars say alot about their
drivers don't you think? I have lots more opinions why certain people drive
certain cars, but I think I'll keep those to myself for the moment. BTW, I was
really curious to see the driver of the A8 today, but it was gone by the time
I came out of the coffee shop, darn!
