Jim- I recently experienced the objectionable odor of burning synthetic oil on
my V8. I recalled reading a post citing a bad breather hose as the culprit.
Last week I removed the top plastic cover and the box under the air filter and
VOILA the hose from the block to the rear of the drivers side  head was badly
disintegrated causing oil to collect and run down onto some hot exhaust
components. The hose was $20 from the dealer.`The part # is 077103221B. Good
luck!
