97 A4 1.8T clutch problem

Hello everyone.  I have a 97 A4 1.8T non-quattro 5-speed manual trans. 
I recently experienced this and wonder if anyone else had this problem.
Everyone once in a while when I step on the clutch to start the car, the
clutch
does not pop back up all the way and sometimes it doesn't pop back up at
all!  However, I can manually pull the clutch back up and it would be
fine again.
I took the car for its 1 year service and told them about this problem. 
They could
not duplicate this problem.  Since then, it has happened twice more.   
Does
anyone know what's causing this?  Thanks in advance!
