Odo repairs

Come on guys, the gear retails for about 2 bucks, how much could the pin
be? Our local incompetent speedo shop has them, how hard could they be
to get? Call a VDO place and see if they`ll sell you the parts you need.
A used unit is only an indeterminate time from failure anyway. I don`t
want to be harsh, nor impolite, but your time in trying to do this
repair has gotta be worth something, and when it fails again soon, the
level of frustration isn`t worth the few bucks it would cost to do it
right. Its my understanding that this setup is made like a fuse, when
the load on the mechanism gets too high, the gear slips, saving major
internal damage. I may be wrong, but it makes sense. Best of luck. John.
