Urquattro tires

I was looking at the difference between urquattro tires, and was somewhat
confused at the numbers.  Here is what I calculated for the radii:

15x6 rims with 205/60-15 tires:  15" x 25.4mm/" / 2 + 205mm x 0.6 = 313.5mm

15x8 rims with 215/50-15 tires:  15" x 25.4mm/" / 2 + 215mm x 0.5 = 298mm


So, did the factory adjust the speedometer to compensate for the smaller
diameter tires on the 15x8 rims?

When upgrading the wheels/tires of an '82-'83 urquattro, do you maintain
the radius of the 205/60 or the 215/50 tires?
