Re: Changing tranny gears?

How odd! I was about to write the list the exact same question. But in
my case, the car is a `86 CGT. I owned a `82 and came to the conclusion
that the 5th gear was a little too tall for the car. Mainly because of
the lack of torque in those older model coupes. Now that I've got the
torque and the low gear ratios, I've been flying around the east county
of San Diego! But now that I've regained my senses, I noticed how high
the rpm's are at normal cruising speed. For me, that's a touch over
4000rpm at 80mph. Also, my tranny is quite tired and needs a rebuild.
Then I put one and one and one together and came to this question. If
anyone has a suggestions and answers, please share! I don't want to go
into a gear swap-out without first being educated as to what's going on!
Thanks.

Timothy
