V8 Troubles - Engine Repair

Phil,

You're right. It's not just a timing belt replacement any more. It's the
whole top end rebuild as you've described. 

And I must say that I have seen the light. The response, both on-line
and off-line has reassured me that I am being a LITTLE impatient with
the scope of work required to bring my V8 back to life and that the
mechanic doing the work is the most qualifed in this part of the world
(Greg Hyman @ Autofirme, Pawling, NY). 

So, I guess I need to take a "chill pill" and not skip any more
offerings to the Audi Gods. 

Fellow lister, Jim Longo, has enlightened me with a novel idea.... a TAP
Chip upgrade for the V8. Anyone else familiar with this and what is the
final verdict. While I'm there, might as well go for the gusto..right?
