Regarding the lumbar support, you can order sport seats for the 1.8T in cloth
only. They have much better lumbar support and it's adjustable. Well worth the
$500 premium, I'd say.
As for the torque band, the turbo does just fine with a broad, flat peak of 155
lbs-ft. from 1750 to 4600. The 2.8 is definitely quieter and probably better
suited for the Tiptronic. And, if you want leather and wood trim from the
factory, there's only one choice.
Otherwise, I'd go with the 1.8T all the way (as I did!).
