Re:Bull Sh*t e-mail

OK, as someone who deals with spam way too much (and receives probably a
dozen different spams a day) I guess I should clear this up. The Bull's
Eye spams that everyone received this week were being sent to the
quattrolist, not to individuals. (If you're lucky like me you get another
4 or 5 a day sent to noc@, hostmaster@, dns-admin@, etc.) From actually
reading the mail it's pretty obvious that they are selling a spam tool
that is basically a web spider that goes to web pages and looks for <mail
to:> or x@y links, then harvests the addresses and adds them to a list.
I'm sure that there is a webpage with quattro@coimbra.ans.net on it
somewhere that the spider picked up.
I wouldn't worry about A4.org or TAP, Intended Acceleration, etc selling
you email address to these scumbags. If you are concerned though you can
contact the admins as the pages you visit and verify that they are not
giving your address to third parties.
Bull's Eye is probably the most active and unrepentant spammer active
right now, they are as annoying as Cyberpromo was, and luckily as easy to
filter if you are concerned. '
Ob Audi: Got my A4 serviced for the first time today, walked around while
waiting looking at new Audis. The '99 A6 Avant makes almost wish I was
married and had rugrats. The salesman said that they are working to get
Audi to ship 5-speed to the US, so maybe someone is getting a clue. Also
noticed that it had mechanical door locks rather than the hydraulic locks
we all know and love. Didn't have that StarTrek sound.
Also saw an early (probably 82?) coupe with both GT and fuel injection
badges on it. Bright red, personalized plate, looked very sharp. Any
chance a lister owns it?
