Replacement brakes and suspension on '85 4ksq

I just purchased a 1985 4kqs and have a few issues that I need to deal with
that I am hoping I can get some help with.

The car is dark gray (mediocre respray of the original color)
with 98k miles. It had a top-end rebuild about 6 months ago after the
valve lifters started clattering- new timing belt, etc. Interior is in
mint condition, alloys (14") are pretty good too. Those are the good things.

The first major problem was the A/C- the compressor needed fixing, the
a/c belt was wrong, the breather hose was blocked, a vacuum hose was blocked,
the shroud on the condenser was gone, and the receiver/dryer was damaged.
Amazingly, a weak after I bought it, I emailed the guy I bought it from and
he said he would pay for the repairs! I was quite impressed with the guy
when he had kept the car looking so nice for 13 years...but this is over the
top!

But anyway, the remaining problems are mainly that the brakes need to be
replaced and the shocks are going. What I want to know is if I should
go with the stock specified replacements or if it is going to be considerably
better to spend a little more on more robust aftermarket products.

If I get larger brakes, how large can I go before I need to get larger
wheels (an expense I can't afford right now)?

If I get an aftermarket suspension system, what should I get?

Are the rotors or pad more important to spend more on?

And one less related question- how tough is it to replace the motor/regulator
of a front door power window? Will the motor from an '83 4k work? How about
an '86 5k? (I have access to either, but not my year and model).

Thanks for the help.
