200TQ fuel pump dying symptoms?
At lunch today, my '89 200TQ just died as I was leaving my
company parking lot into a busy Lakewood street. After a frantic
moment or two of constantly cranking, the car started
only to die a block later. Dang nobody in Colorado is sympathic to
dead older German quattro barges blocking major throughfares.
No prevalent transfer pump buzz at this time or maybe it just
was reduced. The car has never acted like this before. At
idle the fuel filter is buzzing looking in the engine compartment.
Potentially useful information:
1) Ran the car almost out of gas yesterday (18.gals)
2) Fuel filter not been changed in 35K miles
3 now has a full tank of gas,
4) recent dramatic change in weather (rain and cool weather),
5) Engine dies without drama, just cuts out.
Thanks in advance for your insight. A fuel filter swap is
the obvious first step.
