Okay,
Do what I did and buy replacement tie rod ends for a golf and pull the boots off them. This makes the boots quite expensive ~$25 but still a lot cheaper than an ur-q tie rod. I've BTDT on this one and can probably even find the VW joint part number at home at home.

p.s. I've seen some Suspension Techniques replacement boots (for adnoH) that may fit, no BTDT, so YMMV.

As a note to those who care, the bushings Scott mentioned in this post are at
the other end of the tierod (the rack end) not the grease filled thingies. I
know this for a fact, I ordered one.
