These sound like the real McCoy, not the cheap imitation "HID Look" blue
bulbs.  HID was never developed with the intention of having a blue
tint, but rather a more white and more efficient and reliable lighting. 
The blueish tint is just a side effect of the available phosphours (sp?)
coating the inside of the bulb that turn all the UV energy from the
plasma discharge into white light.
