   ok folks.  I need your help... can anyone give me an honest (ok,
   slightly biased) opinion on what the advantages are of an ur-q (besides
   the obvious quattro) over a 944t?  

Well, comparing my '83 UrQ to my friends ?? 944 Turbo; stock the 944
has far more power, and is (IMO) better-fitted inside (although the
UrQ fits me better than the 944), and will trounce the UrQ in most
road/racing situations. But the UrQ (mine, anyways, remember this is
my data point) is far more hideous(*) to maintain (but is also many
years older than the 944). On the other hand, when inclement weather
comes, I say "Oh Boy, time to go Porsche-hunting" and he goes and
hides...

If you already have good backup wheels, I'd opt for the 944. (Well,
actually, I'd opt for a Lotus ["Real Sports Car"], or at least a
Boxster, but that's just me...)

(*)	Which is not to say that the (any) Porsche is not in itself
	hideously expensive to maintain, it is German, afterall!
