My Story
Greetings,
Recently, my prized '91 BMW 325iX was rear-ended and totalled. I bought
the iX new in Germany, took delivery at the factory in Munich in 1990 and
had eight years and 150k miles of fun and reliability. However, forced
with the need to get another car, and faced with the fact that my vehicle
was the last AWD model BMW made, I looked about for an alternative. Living
on the side of Cheyenne Mountain overlooking Colorado Springs (NORAD is my
close neighbor) a 2WD vehicle was certainly out of the question. Since I
find little of interest in a SUV (plus a Suburban rear ended me) I decided
to check out the Audi Quattro since I wouldn't be caught dead in a Subaru...
So I'm now the proud owner of a new '98 A4 TQ. The turbo does a very nice
job of compensating for the lack of atmosphere at 7,000 feet. Other than
the 1 - 2 second low end turbo lag, it feels every bit a responsive as my
old BMW with a straight six at this altitude. Just hope that my long term
satisfaction will be the same. Only time will tell I guess. Anyway,
pleased to join the group. I'm a font of knowledge on the iX but have lots
to learn about Audis in general and Quattros in particular.

PS - I've lurked on this list since last Friday (some 400+ messages ago)
and am pleased to see that while the volume is high the signal to noise
ratio is quite comfortable. Sincerely hope it stays that way. -cb-
