ASR question

Ok, as some of you know, I unfortunately have a '97 FWD A4 1.8t
automatic. Slushbox isn't THAT bad, but I just found some interesting
info. According to A4.org, the specs for Frontrak equipped cars are:

Drivetrain:
                    FrontTrak - front-wheel drive with Anti-Slip
Regulation (ASR)

Now, I know in the '98 A4's with Fronttrak there is a button on the dash
to disengage ASR. My questions are:

1. Does my car actually have ASR? It seems as though it does, however
I don't have the "luxury" of being able to ever snow test it here in
Atlanta. Or, is A4.org mistaken?

2. If it does, how can I disengage it? Maybe this is the explanation
for my car's sluggishness. I had the ECU problem fixed by the dealer,
but it seems that my car is cutting off the throttle when I step on it
hard, say, from a stop going uphill where the tires would normally
spin. And, in the rain, I'm unable to spin out. Other FWD's I've had
have been able to spin for 2-3 seconds in the rain if given full
throttle from a stop. I have a empty place for a switch in my dash, and
I guess getting a 1998's ASR button would be no problem, but does anyone
know what I need to tap the switch into to disengage ASR? Any BTDT's?

TIA,
Chris
