weird clutch on 4kq

I mentioned this briefly once before but got little response- here is
a more detailed description of my clutch behavior.

When starting movement (in 1st or reverse) about 30% of the time, and
especially if I let the clutch out before really giving the car much gas,
the clutch pedal won't reaise back up to its normal position. The pedal
will return about 1 inch and stop. The clutch is almost fully disengaging,
so I can accelerate, but then if I go to push the pedal back in to engage
the clutch it won't engage. I then have to hook my foot under the pedal
and manually pull it up to its normal position and push it back down to get
it to engage. Every other time I use the clutch it behaves perfectly
normally and doesn't slip at all. The only reason I know that the clutch
isn't quite fully disengaging when it exhibits this behavior is because I
can let the car idle in gear at a stop and it won't stall for quite a while.

I really don't have a clue what this means is wrong....any ideas?
