OK, so far, so good.

It WILL fit. BTDT. You need to re-route a couple of fuel lines, but
there is NO custom fabrication required, and you do NOT have to cut a
gaping hole in the fender. You just don't use stock 5k intake routing;
it's too wide. Let me know if you want more details.

Let's make this easy. It's the _passenger_ side tierod that requires
the assistance.

I'm not sure I'd say "major" changes. If you're only talking about the
engine ECU (the red harness for those of you who understand the
reference), I only had two or three wires that needed to connect to the
fuse box and another couple that needed "ignition on" power. (Granted
the afterrun harness has some other connections, but right now I'm only
referring to what's required for the engine to run.)
The afterrun pump, and injector cooling fan are _not_ required pieces
for the conversion, and the boost sensor is built into the ECU, all you
need to do is make sure that the vacuum hose is connected at both ends.

No arguments about the A/C. That would be one hell of a tight fit to
get everything in the small chassis cars.
The intercooler is an interesting issue. A lot of it depends on what IC
you decide you want to use. I've heard of people having good luck
mounting a stock 5kt or ur-q IC in the lower corner under the CIS gear.
Otherwise you need to look at mounting it behind the front grill, or in
front of the radiator.
