Re: Multiple valve engines, Audi Did make 25 valve

Yes, Audi did make 5valve-inline5-engine, but they didn't use it in the
IMSA-GTO car of '89 or in the TransAm of '88. Refered to the german
Audi-Magazin (distributed by Audi itself), they only have used this engine
for testdriving:
Original in German: "...

Translation: "... The developing of the 5-valve-technology have begun with a
few fast laps in Talladega, Alabama: It was in the year 1986, the car was a
Audi 200 (5000 for our Amercan friends) quattro and the engine was a
2,2-litre-inline5-turbo-motor with 25 valves and inpressingfull 487kW
(625hp). They drove a couple of laps with an average speed of 332,88km/h
(~207 mph), and the essential discovery was the superior
performance-capability of the 5-valve-technology (apart from, that Audi set
up a speed-worldrecord)."
