'88 80 1.9E Questions!!

My parents have just purchased a '88 80 and apart from a couple of problems
at the start with the fuel injection it is a really nice car apart from a
few annoying things.
When traveling at around 100 Km/h the car revs at nearly 4000 RPM. This
sounds pretty high and I don't see why Audi would ever make a car that revs
so hard. Is this normal for this car? It has the three speed auto. I had a
look for the gearbox number but I can't find it so I'm not sure what the
code on the actual gearbox is. On the boot lid is has the code KAR. I had a
quick look in the haynes manual but it doesn't list this gearbox code.
Also on take off the car is very sluggish at first. You put your foot on
the pedal to take off and it bogs down and then when it changes into second
gear it takes off like anything. When we got the car it had problems with
the fuel injection and because the car was under warranty the dealer had to
repair it. The dealer ended up replacing a fair bit of the fuel injection
system (eg fuel pump, accumulator, cleaned fuel lines etc..) so I don't
think it is a problem with the fuel system.
Thirdly the speedo is about 5 Km/h out. Can it be adjusted in any way ?
Also could all these problems be related to the gearbox or diff being
changed around with another one which wasn't from this car ? Also can the
later 4 spd auto be put into this car ? Also the car seems to use more fuel
then my '81 5+5 2.1 l, is this normal, I would have thought that a 4 cyl
with all that extra gadgetry attached would be a lot more fuel efficient.
I get arount 10 l/100km in town where as it gets 12l/100km)

The car is a major improvement over my '81 5+5 as far as ride and refinement
go. We'll just have to wait and see if its going to be as reliable.

Any help appreciated

Chris
