That was the problem with mine when I bought the car and I "lived with it" for
~10k miles until it started to get worse.

I got mine from Pep Boys (thanks again to Igor K. for the tip) for about
$115.00 (I believe) and it carries a lifetime warranty (it is a rebuilt).

That's hard to say...like I said, mine was that way when I bought the car and
went another 10k miles before it got really bad.
Removal and replacement is not too tough. *Disconnect battery first!* The
upper mounting bolt is a bit blind but you can feel for where it is located
and removal isn't that bad. The starter is held in place by the upper bolt,
and a lower bolt/nut. Other than that it is a matter of removing the wires and
it comes right out. Make note of wiring locations and re-use the insulater
from the old starter (turbos only?). HTH
