Re[2]: phones upgrades

Actually it isn't cloning since the service provider logs in both
ESN's, one becomes a primary, the other a secondary. All completely
legal and above board. I opted for this route rather than replacing
the OEM phone in my V8Q. Simple rule though - you cannot call one from
the other or use both simultaniously. I also find the system gets
confused if it can see both so I turn off my Startac when I get in the
     car.

Hmmm.... that's called "cloning". Illegal and prohibited by all cellular
carriers I know of. And I own a cellular dealership, so I sort of keep up
with this stuff =)

If you clone a phone to another's ESN, other that violating FCC regulations,
your account will probably be shut off by the carrier. A "digital
fingerprinting" technology is in place which takes the "phoneprint" from the
phone usually used on your account. If another "phoneprint" suddenly shows up
with the same ESN, they can tell.
