4000 GTC Window Regulators

I received a call from an friend last week,  the driver's regulator side
window regulator on his 1985 Coupe GT had broken.  I told him, I had none
available, and that he should try some after market places.  He called me back
today said he happened to be at a salvage yard that specializes in VWs, he
looked at a Scirroco and thought it looked a lot like the door of his coupe,
so he pulled the door panel, pulled out the window regulator.  He then removed
the guide arm that the window rides up and down on and replced it with the one
form the coupe and 10 minutes later he had the window working better then
anytime since he purchased the car from me 2 years ago.   I haven't seen the
finished job, and I haven't seen this fix listed on the list before, I thought
I would pass it along.
