Re: 1999 Monterey Historic Automobile Races to Honor Auto Union

Thank you Ingo (?) (WARATAP@aol.com) for posting this exciting press release!
<snipped>

The press release seems a bit vague WRT Audi as we know them today. Regardless
of that...this sounds like the destination location for Audi fans in 1999!

I am unclear what "car club" (s?) will represent Audi at this event.
Presumably QCUSA? Whatever the case know that it is our duty to have a better
showing than wmb did on Saturday (Porsche was featured marque). The wmbcca was
very well organized and out in force Saturday (along with throngs of people
who overwhealmed Laguna Seca...another story). A very strong presence from us
Audi fans is in order here. Mark your dates and book your vacations for August
27, 28 and 29, 1999. I think it would be quite embarasing to have a better
showing from the wmbcca during "our" featured marque year! We can't allow that
to happen.

As for the past two days. It was wonderful to meet so many new faces who I
have known via email from this here list! I'm still waiting to see who will do
a write up about the event but for now let's just say it exceeded
expectations-and they were high!

We did create a small legend apparently. There were about 10 or 12 cars that
caravaned down from Aptos, CA. into the track...meeting up with some more from
San Jose. A woman working the Audi tent said she heard there was "a parade of
25 Audis" coming into the track. Even though this number artificially grew,
our q-lister presence was felt.
