To dealer or not to dealer?

Hi Everybody!
Thanks for all of your input on my recent question in reference to timing
belt replacement and general maintenance for my Dad's 92 100S. Is the actual
work of replacing the timing belt, serpentine belt, and assorted
tensioners/rollers the kind of job that should be done by the dealer if
there is not a really "crack" independent garage that is used to working on
Audis, or is the kind of job that any well trained mechanic should be able
to perform? If it is done by a general mechanic are there any peculiarities
that must be observed? Alternately, is anybody aware of a good Audi mechanic
in the Southern Vermont area?
