Tire Cleaning Methods?

Hey gang,

Anybody got any good/better methods for cleaning brown scummy brake dust
off the tires?  I'd tried some Simple Green (100% strength) and a scrub
brush, but after I was done, it still looks like I just drove off the
grounds at Laguna Seca!
