I may have to change it soon. The rubber hose needs to
be changed, and if past performance is an indicator,
I'll be changing the caliper because of a broken bleeder
screw.

The first symptom is a crunching sound when turning the
steering wheel from stop to stop. Sounds like what you
hear when you're eating corn flakes. As it gets worse,
the struts will stick and release, stick and release,
etc. as you turn the wheel. After the bearings are
totally trashed, it feels/sounds like the steering
rack is bad, especially noticable when the front
wheels are in the air.
I procrastinated more than 4 years in changing the
bearings......but I'd recommend it if you think your
car might need them. Since you have to remove the
strut assembly, it gives you a great chance to check
all the other suspension components. I discovered
the caliper discrepency and replaced a lower ball
joint A-arm assembly that was also on it's way out.
BCNU,
... Not tonight, dear. I have a modem.
