cracked coupler on 2 piece exhaust manifolds

Checking if anyone else has seen this problem, on a friends 1983 ur-q
with MC engine transplant, a
2 piece exhaust manifold is installed. Lot's of other tweeks too. After
getting the conversion done and 
the engine dialed in he started driving the car. Now with 700 miles on
the conversion, including 1 track
day, it appears the accordian section of the 2 piece manifold has
cracked and the engine now has an
exhaust leak. Has anyone heard of this failure before? or any similar
problem. All I remember hearing
is that the 2 piece is a great upgrade for the 10V engines, with no
negatives. Experiences/opinions?
