I've had the same problem on my 83 5K. You can move both latches by pushing
them towards the center of the car with a long flat-head screw driver. I
found it easiest to do this through the space between the top of the
headlight bezel and the lower edge of the hood. In my experience, the
driver's side must be done in this manner or one similar. The passenger side
latch can be released by crawling beneath the car on your back and sneaking
your hand up to release it with your hand. If you already have a basic
understanding of how the hood release works or have access to a diagram, you
will have no problem.
