Just FYI. The radiator fan relay is under the dash inside the cockpit.Remove
the panel under the steering wheel and look up, you will
see a couple of relays. I don't remember which one it was, I just
pulled/replaced until the fans shut off.

This was back when my fans defaulted to high (takeoff) speed,
problem was a temp sensor on the engine. VW uses the same
temp sensor on their VR6.
