Glueing the strips with black windshield adhesive works
well at keeping the chrome strips on when they start
coming off. I've removed the entire piece from
the car (school bags snagged and bent them beyond
straightening) and it doesn't look bad just with
the black seal exposed (from a distance anyway.)
I've never priced the piece out, but based on what
German Chrome usually costs, I never bothered.

I would be very interested in knowing if anyone has
ever pulled this chrome successfully from a parts
car. I have the opportunity to buy a parts car
that is cosmetically pristine but has a blown
differential ($75 takes it away), I'd like to
replace this part if possible. Seems like it might
be one piece, bonded to the bottom seal.
