Good drives in Chicagoland? (little Audi content)

As the mercury moves downward and summer comes to a close, I'm starting to
yearn for some really nice open roads to do some "spirited" driving on.

I am originally from Iowa, and all those from there know that smooth
asphalt-covered roads with zero traffic and zero law enforcement are
bountiful.  Now that I've relocated to the Chicagoland area, it seems that
no such thing exists.

So, anyone in the area (or from the area) know of any good drives I could
take?  I'm willing to travel a distance, especially as fall approaches, as
the scenic tour becomes more in tune with the SO and changing leaves and
picnics serve as good excuses to blast along deserted back roads.  (Of
course, I use the term "blast" here in a restrained and, of course,
law-abiding manner...)
