RE: Good drives in Chicagoland? (little Audi content)

I was from Chicago, and you think traffic THERE is bad? I wish now that I
NEVER moved to SoCal! I thought this was to be THE Car Capitol of the World,
. . NOT! Even if you have a car that can do 150+MPH, you are usually stuck
doing 15-35MPH in heavy traffic. Actually, the highways here are called
PARKING LOTS. I will admit, thought, there are some good routes, IF you know
when to go down them. And as for AutoX or Racing events, . . Chicago blows
this away!

Anyway, as to your question, . .

1) try a trip to the Utica Go-Kart track. On a Saturday or Sunday somebody
has an AutoX there, and it is a GREAT place to have fun!

While there, somewhere nearby is Starved Rock. You can't go fast there, but
there is a reason - its almost like a hill climb! Nice scenery, but the road
is also full of fun tight twists! Also, in Fall, the colors are fantastic!

2) Go up to Road America for the Quattro Event, or at least take a trip
there to watch any race there. The Kettle Moraine landscape there is
beautiful!

3) Galena is also FUN! And it also is the home of Civil War General Grant,
so there is a lot to see there.

4) Drive down to the Mississippi, specially the "Mark Twain" caves area.

4) The Covered Bridge Festival in Indiana - don't remember where it was, but
I went there many years ago with the Triumph (car) Club and had a BALL! And
at that time of year, the Autumn colors are breathtaking.
