Precisely. The word finesse comes to my mind. Put it this way -- anyone
can put a !!8000cc!! engine into a passenger car. And if you're using that
big of a engine, it better be a decent performer. If GM or Ford would have
their way, they'll probably put a bigger engine in for a race of "mine's
bigger than yours." But even they aren't as dumb to get into that.

To do another Viper, it doesn't take much of a brain to do it, only your
underwear size and bank account. There are proofs in the world that you
can do it style and still beat the heck out of Viper. Viper is the extreme
in "American style" sports car -- brute force (sans technological
wonders), crude, unrefined, etc.

Yes, I do admit Viper is one of the automotive wonders. But in a
"Frankenstein" kinda way...

Mandatory Audi content:

Well, could an Audi perform in straight accerleration as a Viper. From the
rumors... could be. With that very strong rumor that Audi is buying Lambo
(and even Bughatti!?), there's good chance that Audi will be developing
the engine and the drivetrain for either the little Lambo or the Diablo
replacement.

Now, what could that be? Audi has already speculated that either the V8
engine from the S8 could be use as-is, or the prototype bi-turbo of that
"RS8" -- of course, mated to the quattro.

If this does happen, then there will be upgrades for those with the 4.2
liter V8. And who knows what q-listers will putting that engine into. A
Yugo? Could be. A Trabant? If you can get the body. A VW Microbus? Why
not? Or maybe into (another rumored) new A4 coupe...
