Re: 5KCSTQ: 'Unshakable' Steering Wheel Shimmy --And NTB

Let's just say that your opinion of them is MUCH better than mine. I'd get
kicked off the list for expressing it.... BTW, they seem to have gotten much
worse after being purchased by Sears. The former "NTW" was not as bad IME.
I suspect it depends on lot on the individual dealership.
I have had OK luck with the one in Nashua, NH (next to Home Depot/
Pheasant Lane mall). They had the Blizzaks I needed when I needed
them (picked up car on Friday afternoon, going to Ski country
"tomorrow morning", had all of 70 miles on original tires...),
got them mounted no problem, friendly (*not* pushy at all, unlike
some places!) and courteous, reasonably prompt. If I have a com-
plaint, it would be that they didn't do a particularly good job
of removing the tape/skickem from the previous wheelweights when
they replaced/rebalanced the SP8000s in spring.
I wouldn't take my UrQ there, because I *know* it needs on-car
balancing.
I probably wouldn't take a car there "that had problems and needed
sorting out" either.
I remember the guy at Direct Tire (a coupla years ago) told me that
the A4 needed special alignment equipment that even they did not
have, so I don't know what I'd ("I will") do with my A4 when it
comes time to "sort it out" -- I'd hate to have to depend on *any*
Audi Dealership !!!
My $0.02's worth.
