Tight to steering arm?

My 300ZXTT wheels fit tighter than that.  16x8.5 with 35mm offset and 
245/45-16 tires. The edge of the tire was less than 3mm from the steering 
arm.  I figured it wouldn't work since the tire deflects on cornering.  
However, those D40M2s have such stiff sidewalls, they don't deflect 
enough to touch the steering arm.  I checked very gradually and very 
carefully :-)
