re: climate control
A few people lately have posted with problems in the climate control (cc)
system in the late '80s early '90s audis. I forget who, but one lister stated
that lately his car stopped blowing cool air through the center vents, and
only blew through the upper and lower (and the dealer wanted to recharge the
system freon).
Here in the northeastern US, we've had a great cold/cool snap (great for us
turbo owners...). You should note that the cc blows cool air through the
center vents, but when it's cold outside, it heats (not cools) the air, which
is then sent through the upper and lower vents, not the center. Check your
owner's manual, it's supposed to do that. Can be disconcerting after a summer
of a/c air through the center vents, to one morning get air only from above
and below. You can check if this is what's happening by checking the setting
for preferred temp vs. outside temp.
I've got some troubleshooting info on my web page, if the system is truly not
working correctly.
