Re: Stereo upgrade for Coupe GT
I had to cut sheet metal because the 6.5" speakers I bought had ununusually
large magnets. The grills just barely fit on the sloped portion of the rear
shelf. Not a big deal, after you pull out the masonite shelf.
I ran new speaker leads, the original ones are all in harnesses and
impossible
to trace (no info in the shop manual). Not a big deal either. Ended up
reinforcing the masonite with 3/8" plywood backing in the area of the
speakers,
really helps in making for a rigid mount, also plan on using spray
insulating
foam around the speaker openings to seal the gap between the masonite and
sheet
metal, for further reinforcement and to direct the sound from the rear of the
speakers into the trunk cavity.
