longevity of the 2.8 V6

Anyone know if the new line of motors (2.8L  6 cylinder in particular) have
the same long life span as the I5 or VW's 4 cylinder? I was considering
looking at a 1994 90 CS quattro Sport with 100k miles on it. I started to
wonder if these new motors are as bullet proof as the older motors. I wouldn't
think twice about buying an I5 car with over 100k if the car was well
maintained but I simply don't know enough about the 6 cylinder.
