That is exactlly the setup I have in my 4kq.  The stock ss tube up to
where the resonator used to be, then a custom bent system (sans
resonator) into a 3 chamber Flowmaster exiting in the original tips. 
Stealth.  Until you hear it that is.  Definitely loud to the neighbors. 
Not that loud inside the car, but it can get a little tiring on long
trips.  Definitelly gruttural and raspy sounding.  Car lost a bit of
bottom end torque, but gained a little above 5k rpm.  I think I paid
about $130 three years ago.  It's still holding up fine.
