Re: Another one bites the dust :*(
Ramana, glad you hear everyone is ok. We can replace cars(especially with
insurance), but can't replace people.
One could look on the bright side; if he was in some Geo Metro, he wouldn't
be in nearly as good shape as he is right now; quite possibly dead(ask
Andrew Duane's wife about the structural integrity of Geo Metros.) Given
the chance, I'd rather loose my car than loose a friend. It's also good to
look at the car and say, "It did -exactly- what it was supposed to do."
A friend once told me, remarking on how fast I was taking an off
ramp(really not that fast; well under 40) and said that she lost a friend
when the driver took an off-ramp too fast and flipped the car, killing at
least one person(her friend.)
Sounds like you have mostly body damage(a damn shame; it was something to
be proud of; you certainly got a lot of attention at Mt Washington;I'd say
you definately had "best of corral") but sounds like you'll probably be
able to part out quite a bit of various components. That RS2 cover, if
still OK(or only slightly damaged), is probably worth a good chunk...
As for me, I had a very close call today; I pulled off the turnpike, got
onto an onramp for another road; you yield to traffic on the road, and I
stopped along with the guy in front of me. I was looking at traffic, saw
a clear space of several cars, floored it, and turned just in time to
see..the guy in front of me STILL in front of me. I hit the brakes(thank
god for those UFO's) and stopped just short of his bumper.
Almost did exactly what my father did to his TR4 many years ago. He spent
the entire summer rebuilding the front end...
