I lived without a car for about 2 years.  Of course that was in a small
town and I used a bike to go everywhere.  Faster by bike in this town.  

I spose if you work in a suit then it might be hard unless your city has a
great transit system like in some BIG cities.

A bike with a rack is great for quick runs to the store and the ball field
though.  ANd if you have a friend nearby with a car, you can borrow it
when you need it.   Just dont try this for too long unless you plan on
building him a deck or something.   :)
