audi releases details on the a3 quattro

which will be released in 2 models:

a3 1.8tq (150hp 110kw)
a3 1.8tq (180hp, 132kw)

the a3 will also be released in a fwd 180hp variant.

the quattro is described as a permanent all wheel drive.  "on the a3
quattro, as on the audi tt, there is a regulated hydralic multi-plate
clutch at the heart of the permanent four-wheel-drive.  this new
technical concept, which is particularly suited to the requirements of a
transverse engine, retains all the proven advantages of an audi
quattro."
