The rear speakers of the 4k have the grills screwed onto them.  So, 

1) take a thing flat blade screwdriver and jam in under the grill and hold on
tight. 
2) Then take the grill by hand and spin it counter-clockwise (I think...)
3) It should unthread and the bottom of the speaker falls down
4) Unplug the lower speaker housing and tilt sideways and pull in through the
hole.

Look ma... now I can get real speakers in here (albeit small ones)
